Turkish street food is diverse, flavorful, and often tailored for quick, satisfying bites. Döner, which is thinly sliced meat wrapped in lavash or stuffed into bread, is one of the most popular options. Çiğ köfte, traditionally made with raw meat but now commonly vegetarian, is a spicy bulgur mix served cold in a wrap with fresh greens and pomegranate sauce. Lahmacun, often called “Turkish pizza,” is a thin, crispy flatbread topped with minced meat, herbs, and spices, typically rolled up with parsley and a squeeze of lemon. Simit, a sesame-crusted bread ring, is a classic snack often sold by street vendors. You’ll also find midye dolma (mussels stuffed with herbed rice) and kokoreç (grilled, spiced lamb intestines chopped and served in bread), both favorites for late-night eats and bold flavors.
